Sonique - Playing Audio Files on Windows
Sonique is an application software download free Windows that enables us to play audio files in various formats and also offers bult-in Audio Enlightment 4 (AE 4) decoder, DSP plugins support, multilanguage support, visualisation plugins support and full-screen support.
Sonique has a beautiful and eye-catching interface and a lot of output visualization modes that allows you to easily browse your music library. It has a powerful control set that includes tempo change and pitch and balance adjustment, as well as a 20-band graphic equalizer that uses spline-based level adjustment.
The program is very customizable, with a wide range of skins and visuals that can be customized in many ways. It supports most audio formats including MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WMA (Windows Media Audio), MOD, IT, XM, S3M and CD Audio.
Its major features include support for irregular skins, the audioEnlightenment MP3 decoding engine by Tony Million, innovative audio visualizations and a 20-band graphic equalizer.
A few years ago, Sonique was one of the most popular desktop audio players, second only to Nullsoft's Winamp. The program was developed by Andrew McCann, Ian Lyman and Paul Peavyhouse under the name Night55 while they were students at Montana State University.
Shortly after their company was acquired by Lycos, they began work on Sonique 2. They intended this to be a platform for listening to, organizing and purchasing digital music.
Unfortunately, the dot-com bubble collapsed and the entire team was laid off, with only McCann and Lyman remaining. After that, a smaller team from Lycos headquarters took over the project but slowed it down and eventually stopped it.
